Body Found In River Was Missing Morris Co. Student: Officials

Daniel Lee, a second-year engineering student from East Hanover, had been missing since January.

EAST HANOVER, NJ — The body of a college student from Morris County was found in a Pennsylvania river last week, according to a statement from Lehigh University President Joseph J. Helble.

Daniel Lee had been missing since January 20, according to a campus-wide bulletin issued the following day by Lehigh University. Authorities stated in January that they did not believe foul play was involved in his disappearance.

On Wednesday, May 24, Helble said that the University had received confirmation that a body pulled out of the Lehigh River last week was Lee.

"The lack of definitive information surrounding Daniel’s disappearance has been especially hard on those close to him, and the loss of a student is upsetting for our entire Lehigh community," Helble said.

According to NJ Advance Media, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lyseks stated Wednesday that his office had completed the identification process and determined Lee died as a result of drowning.

"As we come together to support one another, I also encourage those who may be struggling with their mental health to seek support," Helble said.
