Memorial Considered For BOE Member Killed By Alleged Drunken Driver
Superintendent Carol Grossi said she would discuss the proposed plaque with Ralph Politi's widow.
The Hanover Park Regional Board of Education discussed placing a commemorative plaque dedicated to one of their own at Hanover Park High School.
Ralph Politi, Jr. was a member of the Board of Education representing East Hanover when he was . His death occurred in the middle of the softball season, and the team, including his daughters Dana and Danielle Politi, went on to win the sectional championship.
At the last One Day One School event in October, Superintendent Carol Grossi said a garden was created near the softball field to Politi's memory.

"That's where I always see him," Grossi said.
After the garden was installed, Grossi said she was asked if a plaque to Politi's memory could be placed in or near the garden. Grossi said she promised Politi's widow she would approach the board about it.

"I don't think anyone's against it," President Gerard Freda said.
Grossi said she would ask Politi's widow Rhoda what she had in mind for the plaque and would report back to the board.
