East Hanover Lifer Promoted to Police Chief

East Hanover Lt. Christopher Cannizzo was promoted to chief on Nov. 1, TAPinto.com reported.

EAST HANOVER, N.J.– East Hanover resident and police lieutenant Christopher Cannizzo was promoted to chief in a Tuesday evening ceremony, TAPinto.com reported.

Cannizzo started with his hometown department in 1995, TAPinto.com reported.

"Becoming a police officer in East Hanover was always a dream of mine,” Cannizzo was quoted as saying to a group of friends, family, and community. "Even I never imagined that I would one day become the Chief of Police for the East Hanover Police Department. It is an absolute honor to be appointed Chief of Police in this very special community where I was raised.”

Cannizzo takes over for Stanley Hansen, who spent 43 years – the last 24 as chief – with EHPD.
