Graffiti, Smashed Ornaments Reported at School
East Hanover Police investigating vandalism incidents at Frank J. Smith School.

One East Hanover school has been vandalized several times recently with graffiti, a broken parking light and smashed lawn ornaments.
East Hanover Police Patrolman Kenneth T. McCoy responded to Frank J. Smith School on Sept. 28 on reports of vandalism.
Principal Kerry Quinn spoke with McCoy about recent damage done to the school. She said over the summer there were several incidents of graffiti, where male genitalia was drawn in marker on the slides in the playground area, according to a police report.

The marker was cleaned off and the incidents went unreported, according to police.
Quinn said over the previous week, a parking lot light was broken by rocks, according to the police report.

Also, in one of the children's gardens adjacent to the main door entrance, several lawn ornaments set out by the children were smashed, police said.
Quinn told police she has seen a juvenile in the area and believes he may be responsible, according to police. She identified the juvenile and wanted the matter reported, police said.
The information was released to police officers, who will keep an eye on the area, according to Lt. James Snow, of the East Hanover Police Department.
