Police found the woman with a gunshot wound to the head inside their home, after a family member called 911.
EAST HANOVER, NJ — Officials said a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he shot his wife in the head at their East Hanover home.
Morris County officials said Alexander Jacobs, 79, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter. Officials had originally charged him with first-degree murder after the shooting on the afternoon of March 26, 2020, which killed his 71-year-old wife Lilia.
East Hanover Police arrived to a residence on Selmar Terrace just after 2 p.m. that day, after a family member called 911 to report a domestic incident involving a gun. Authorities found Lilia's body in the home, and took Alexander into custody. A handgun was also recovered at the scene.
