Man Hit in Face With Brick, Life Threatened, Cops Say
Cranford man accused of assaulting Mt. Pleasant Avenue resident last week.

A Cranford man threatened to have a Mt. Pleasant Avenue resident killed and struck him in the face with a brick during a dispute last week, East Hanover Police said.
Daniel Lugo, 30, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after a verbal dispute escalated at a Mt. Pleasant Avenue residence last Wednesday shortly before 6 p.m., according to a police report.
Lugo threatened to have the man killed and then struck him with a brick over his left eye, according to the police report. Lugo then repeatedly punched the man in the head and back, the report said.

The victim injured his back left rib cage, according to the police report.
The East Hanover Emergency Squad assessed the man, but he refused transportation to the hospital, police said.

According to the police report, Lugo previously lived at the Mt. Pleasant Avenue residence. The victim declined a restraining order against Lugo, the report said.
