September Is Cancer Awareness Month In Florham Park
Mayor Mark Taylor declares September Cancer Awareness in Florham Park

Cancer is the second leading cause of death, after accidents for children, according to the American Cancer Society. Over 1000 children under the age of 15 are expected to die this year alone from affliction with some kind of cancer. For this reason, Florham Park Mayor Mark Taylor has declared September Cancer Awareness Month, according to a TAPinto article.
“This September we would like to remember the young lives taken too soon and the families facing childhood cancer today,” Mayor Taylor told TAPinto reporters. “We want to dedicate ourselves to recognizing this terrible illness. Florham Park Borough would also like to all support the brave children who still battle cancer or have battled cancer, many of whom live here in the area.”
About 10,380 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2016, according to the American Cancer Society. Even though there have been major steps taken towards treating cancer, through technology and medicine, childhood cancer rates have still been on the rise over the last few decades.

“In September we pay tribute to the families, friends, professionals, and communities who lend their strength to children fighting pediatric cancer," said Mayor Taylor to TAPinto reporters. "May their courageous commitment continue to move us forward to new cures, health outcomes, and brighter futures for America’s youth.”
