Careless Driving, Fictitious Plates: East Windsor Police Blotter
The East Windsor Police Blotter dated Aug. 21 had the following reports:
EAST WINDSOR, NJ – On Aug. 8, at 9:21 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of TD Bank for a motor vehicle crash. While investigating the crash, the officer found that one driver had an active warrant out of Cranbury Township. The driver was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and released after posting bail.
On Aug. 9, at 10:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 535 near Route 571 after observing the vehicle being operated erratically. The officer noticed opened containers of alcohol inside of the vehicle and asked the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The driver, an East Windsor resident, was taken to police headquarters, and processed, but refused to comply with breath testing. The 37-year-old was later released pending court action.
On Aug. 10, at 1:58 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle being operated erratically in the area of Abbington Drive and Twin Rivers Drive. The officer followed the vehicle across Route 33 and conducted a traffic stop on Twin Rivers Drive North. The driver showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 35-year-old East Windsor resident was taken to police headquarters, and processed, but refused to comply with breath testing. He was later released pending court action.

On Aug. 17, at 10:22 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street after seeing the driver not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of East Windsor and was placed under arrest. The 35-year-old East Windsor resident was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released on his own recognizance.
On Aug. 17, at 2:26 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Route 130 North and Hankins Road after dispatch received numerous calls about an erratic driver who was not maintaining their lane of travel. The officer found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The driver, a resident of Yardley, PA, was taken to police headquarters, and processed, but refused to comply with breath testing. The 44-year-old was later released pending court action.

On Aug. 17, at 7:52 p.m., an officer responded to ShopRite and met with Loss Prevention personnel who reported a case of shoplifting. The suspect exited the store after bypassing sale with a shopping cart containing groceries valued at $133.22. Loss Prevention personnel attempted to stop the individual in the parking lot, but they ran from the scene before police could arrival. The officer later identified the suspect and charged him on a complaint summons.
On Aug. 18, at 10:37 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of the Dorchester Arms Apartment complex when he recognized an individual he knew to have an active warrant out of West Windsor Township. The officer approached the individual who was drinking beer in public. The officer placed the 32-year-old East Windsor resident under arrest, took him to police headquarters, processed him. The man was later released on his own recognizance.
On Aug. 18, at 12:39 p.m., an officer responded to Home Depot for a report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The three suspects reportedly left the area in a white van; however, the registration did not come back on file through the Motor Vehicle Commission. The officer located the vehicle pulling into the parking lot of Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown and conducted a traffic stop. Home Depot reported that the suspects stole $1,012 worth of spray paint and placed them in storage bins. The officer found the stolen items in plain view inside of the vehicle. All three suspects were placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released on summonses pending court action. The stolen spray paint was returned to Home Depot.
On Aug. 19, at 9:29 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 33 near Motel 6 after a look up of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it had expired. The driver, a Trenton resident, was unlicensed and had active warrant out of Bordentown Township. The 19-year-old was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released on his own recognizance.
On Aug. 17, around 1:17 a.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle bearing a fictitious New Jersey temporary registration that failed to maintain its lane on Route 133. The vehicle did not stop and eluded the officer onto the New Jersey Turnpike. The officer conducted a follow-up investigation and developed information that identified the suspect as a 37-year-old East Windsor resident. On Aug. 20, the man was charged with eluding and numerous traffic-related offenses.
