Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Crashing Into Car In Mercer Co.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed and obstructed view of the road due to parked vehicles may have caused the crash.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A Trenton man suffered serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a Ford Focus in Hamilton on Tuesday evening, police said.

Around 6:08 p.m., Felix De La Cruz operating a 2006 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle collided with a 2017 Ford Focus, driven by Ronny Chango Mosquera of Hamilton, within the intersection of Norway Avenue and Walnut Avenue.

According to preliminary investigation, the Ford Focus proceeded into the intersection, past the posted stop sign, heading eastbound on Walnut Ave. Prior to clearing the intersection, the car was hit on the passenger's side by the motorcycle, which was traveling northbound on Norway Avenue, police said.

Following the impact, the motorcyclist was ejected onto the road and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the Ford Focus was not injured in the collision, police said.

Based on evidence at the scene, police said it appears the motorcyclist was traveling at an excessive speed before the crash. An obstructed view of Norway Avenue due the number of parked vehicles may have also contributed to the collision, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Officers J. Anaya and B. DiBiasi of the Hamilton Police Division Traffic Unit.
