PA Man Charged In Connection With July 4 Shooting Death In Mercer Co.

Rashawn Ford, 37, of Morrisville, PA was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Bensalem, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A Pennsylvania man has been charged in connection with the July 4 shooting death of Amir Williams in Trenton, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson said Wednesday.

Rashawn Ford, 37, of Morrisville, Pa., is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and multiple weapons offenses including certain persons not to possess a firearm.

He was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Bensalem, Pa., by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The prosecutor’s office will file a motion to detain Ford pending trial.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, Trenton Police responded to the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue on a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived on scene they found Amir Williams, 32, on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Williams was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where a short time later he was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, a second victim, an adult female, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip area.

The investigation was conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) and the Trenton Police Department, and is ongoing,.
