Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane: East Windsor PD Blotter

The East Windsor Police blotter dated Oct. 10 had the following reports:

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — On Oct. 3, at 8:04 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 130 North near Town Center Plaza after observing the driver utilizing her cell phone while operating the vehicle. Additionally, a look-up of the vehicle’s registration revealed the owner’s license was suspended and the registration was suspended/expired. The officer met with the driver who was confirmed to be the registered owner of the vehicle. The driver was also found to have active warrants out of Pennsville, Chesilhurst, Mid-Salem County, Carney’s Point, Evesham, and Salem City. The 35-year-old Salem resident was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, processed, issued several traffic summonses, and later turned over to the custody of the Pennsville Police Department.

On Oct. 5 , at 5:53 p.m., an officer responded to the Windsor Hotel for a disturbance call. One of the involved individuals left the area in a vehicle which was located a short time later on Woodside Avenue. The officer met with the individual who showed signs of impairment and noticed an open bottle of alcohol on the front seat. The driver, a Philadelphia resident, was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 39-year-old was transported to police headquarters, and processed, but refused to comply with breath testing. The driver was later released pending court action.

On Oct. 26, at 2:06 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 33 West after observing the vehicle not maintaining its lane. The driver, a Hightstown resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 41-year-old was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On Oct. 7 at 9:04 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 130 South after observing the vehicle had a brake light out. The driver was found to have a suspended license and an active warrant out of Burlington County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, a Trenton resident, was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, issued motor vehicle summonses, and later turned over to the custody of the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office.

On Oct. 7 at 10:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 33 West after observing the vehicle being operated with its headlights off and erratically. The driver, a Hightstown resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The officer also observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. The 27-year-old was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On Oct. 8 at 7:42 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Route 130 North and Route 571 for a motor vehicle collision. On arrival, the single-vehicle involved was parked on the grass and the driver appeared disoriented. EMS personnel responded as a precaution, but the driver also showed signs of impairment. Additionally, officers located suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. The 30-year-old Hamilton resident was taken into custody, transported to the hospital, later released, and taken back to police headquarters. At headquarters, he was processed and later released pending court action.

On Oct. 9 at 9:22 p.m., an officer was traveling north on Cedarville Road when a vehicle travelling southbound swerved into his lane of travel nearly causing a collision. The officer turned around and made a traffic stop when the vehicle entered Cedarville Village. The driver, an East Windsor resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. Additionally, the officer observed open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. The 47-year-old was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On Oct. 9 at 10:51 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Abbington Drive and the Twin Rivers Mall for a report of an erratic driver that almost caused a collision. The officer found the vehicle in the parking lot of 659 Abbington Drive. The officer met with the driver, an East Windsor resident, who showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. Additionally, the officer found open beer containers inside the vehicle. The 32-year-old was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.
