Special Meeting Feb. 7 To Rename Princeton District
Princeton Regional Board of Education is asking interested community members to help with the decision by participating in a survey before Tuesday's vote. Princeton High School, which is attended by Cranbury students, will not be affected.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Princeton Board of Education will vote to rename the Princeton Regional School District.
Why? Once Princeton Borough and Princeton Township consolidate, Princeton will no longer qualify as a regional school district, and is required by law to change its name, according to district officials.
The district plans to use its new name beginning July 1, and incorporate it into the overhaul of the district and school websites.
“Improving communications to stakeholders is a cornerstone of our strategic plan,” Board President Rebecca Cox said.
Board Vice President Timothy Quinn the name change will not cost extra money.
“The district will use every sheet of existing letterhead before the name change must take effect on Jan. 1, 2013 and there are no signage considerations,” he said.
The name change will not affect the district's send-receive relationship with Cranbury School. Cranbury pays Princeton a per-pupil tuition fee, but because the district does not levy taxes on Cranbury residents, the arrangement does not constitute a regional district, Quinn said. Princeton High School's name will not change.
The school district has posted a community survey for residents to weigh in on the new name. To participate, click here
