Theft, Reckless Driving: East Windsor Police Blotter

The East Windsor Police blotter dated July 25 had the following reports:

EAST WINDSOR, NJ - Only July 17, a resident responded to police headquarters to report his electronic bike valued at approximately $1,500 was stolen from outside of Exit 8 on July 16 between 11:30 p.m. and July 17 at 12 a.m. The case was assigned to a detective who identified a suspect and located him at the Windsor Motel on July 18. The suspect, a Manalapan resident was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and released on a complaint summons pending court action. The electronic bike was recovered and returned to the victim.

On July 19, an officer responded to the area of Wendy’s after receiving a report of a vehicle that struck a curb and continued driving. The officer found the vehicle in question and observed it being operated erratically. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Stockton Street. The driver showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 26-year-old driver, a Hightstown resident was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On July 16, around 9:56 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Princeton Arms South II for a criminal mischief report. The victim reported their vehicle’s tires were slashed and scratched in several areas. The officer identified a suspect and on July 20, charged the 22-year-old Princeton resident on a complaint summons pending court action.

On July 21, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Burger King after learning the vehicle’s registration had expired and the driver failed to maintain their lane. The driver, a Plainsboro resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The driver was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On July 21, around 4:23 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment on Abbington Drive for a burglary in progress. A male reportedly kicked in the door to the apartment and left prior to the officer’s arrival. The suspect, a Hightstown resident, was located a short distance away and was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released on a summons pending court action.

On July 21, around 8:24 p.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a past-tense shoplifting report. Loss prevention personnel advised the suspect gathered $398.51 worth of miscellaneous merchandise and left the store after bypassing all points of sale. The case was assigned to a detective who identified the suspect. The suspect, a Tinton Falls resident, was charged on a complaint summons pending court action.

On July 22, around 2:54 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Target to investigate a disturbance. On arrival, he found the involved individuals. A vehicle belonging to one of the individuals was found to have a stolen license plate out of Monmouth County affixed to it. The Brooklyn, NY man was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and released on a summons pending court action.

On July 22, around 11 p.m., an officer responded to Rocky Brook Road for a report of a motor vehicle collision. On arrival, the driver of the vehicle was determined to have struck a parked car. The driver, a 49-year-old East Windsor resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The driver was taken to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action.

On July 23 around 1:19 p.m., an officer conducted a check of a vehicle’s license plate that was traveling on Disbrow Hill Road and learned that the registered owner had an active traffic warrant out of Milltown Boro. The officer traveled behind the vehicle and observed the driver failed to maintain their lane. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Milford Road and confirmed the driver was the owner of the vehicle. The driver, a Milltown resident, was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released on his own recognizance.

On July 24, around 11:29 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Old Trenton Road after observing the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was found to have active warrants out of Lacey Township and Mount Laurel Township. The driver was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and later turned over to the custody of the Lacey Police on an outstanding warrant out of their jurisdiction.
