Edison To Get $2.4M To Repair Sewage System Damaged By Hurricane Ida

EDISON, NJ — Edison will be getting $2,417,519 to repair the Township’s sewer system that was damaged by Hurricane Ida, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) said.
Flood water from the remnants of the storm overwhelmed the sewer system, causing two sinkholes in the sewer lines, officials said.
The funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“Flooding events and strong storms are a threat to our communities, and it’s important to ensure our infrastructure can withstand these major weather events,” Pallone said in a media statement.
“I’ll continue to fight to deliver the federal funding New Jersey needs to bolster our infrastructure’s resiliency.”

Mayor Sam Joshi said $2.6 million has been applied towards the township's infrastructure needs. “I’m thankful to the federal agencies and my staff for working together and efficiently recouping the funds from this sewer main break.”
