Edison Introduces $28M Spending Plan. What Does It Include?
The funds will be spent on public safety, public works, recreation, and the IT department.
EDISON, NJ – The township council on Wednesday introduced the $28.8 million spending bill for various projects, new equipment and improvements.
The funds will be spent on public safety, public works, recreation, and the IT department.
According to the ordinance, the total amount is $28,475,000 including an aggregate sum of $1,423, 750 for various downpayments for the improvements.

“In order to finance the cost of the several improvements or purposes not covered by application of the several down payments, negotiable bonds are hereby authorized to be issued in the principal amount of $27,051,250,” according to the ordinance.

- Acquisition of a fire engine/pumper including related costs: $1,000,000
- Design, procurement and installation of solar-powered feedback signs at Ethel, Old Post Boulevard and McKinley: $530,000
- Various roadway striping projects: $220,000
- Design, construction and installation of a pedestrian flashing beacon system at Old Post Road and Boulevard of the Eagles: $170,000
- Acquisition of vehicles and equipment: $300,000
- Paving and resurfacing of various roads: $8,250,000
- Various drainage and stormwater projects: $1,100,000
- The Amboy Avenue Improvement Project: $1,800,000
- Acquisition of dump trucks, backhoes, paving units, salt spreading equipment and others: $4,350,000
- Various building improvements and renovations: $1,720,000
- Improvements to various parks: $6,875,000
- Acquisition and installation of fuel tanks and related systems: $1,650,000
- Recreation Department: $85,000
- Acquisition and installation of network infrastructure components and switches and upgrades to the telecommunication system: $425,000
The ordinance will be up for public hearing on June 12.
