Edison man Charged With Attempted Murder In South Brunswick Stabbing

EDISON, NJ — A 24-year-old Edison man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that took place in South Brunswick on Saturday morning, police said.

Dante Wright, 24, has been charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.

On Saturday at 1:19 am South Brunswick Police received a 911 call of a dispute on James Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene they found a man suffering multiple stab wounds, police said. He was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition.

Officers questioned witnesses who said there was a dispute between two people and the man had been stabbed. Wright was still on the scene and taken into custody, police said.

According to investigation, Wright and the man knew each other. During the dispute, Wright used a pocket knife to stab the man several times, police said. Authorities did not disclose the nature of the dispute.

Wright was lodged in the Middlesex County Correction Center pending his detention hearing.
