Truck Driver Shot In The Stomach During Road Rage Incident On NJ Turnpike, State Police Say
Police say the suspect fled the scene and was later apprehended in Virginia.
EDISON, NJ – A Florida man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot a fellow trucker in a road rage incident on the NJ Turnpike in Edison, New Jersey State Police said.
On June 20, troopers responded to a road rage/shooting incident around 10:15 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike South on the outer roadway, milepost 86, in Edison.
According to preliminary investigation, the driver of a box truck was traveling south on the turnpike when he sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen from the driver of a tractor-trailer also traveling south, who fired at least one round into the front door of the victim's box truck, police said.

The tractor-trailer continued south on the turnpike and fled the scene.
The Virginia State Police was able to locate the vehicle traveling on I-295 in Petersberg, Virginia and the driver, identified as Eiver Espinosa Rodriguez, 32, from Homestead, Florida, was taken into custody, police said.

He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of fraudulent government documents and hindering apprehension.
Espinosa Rodriguez is currently awaiting extradition back to New Jersey. The victim remains in critical but stable condition.
