When Edison Police arrived at the home, they found Kirilenko, 61, standing in the kitchen area next to Ginzburg, who was lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, the affidavit said. There was also a woman present at the time who police says was in “distress.”

As police were leading him out of the house, Kirilenko kicked Ginzburg and said he wanted to make sure he was dead, the complaint said.
The woman at the house told police she was in the kitchen with Ginzburg when Kirilenko walked in through the back door and shortly after shot Ginzburg.
Police found two handguns in the kitchen. A check revealed that Kirilenko had several firearms registered to him, including the two handguns, the complaint said.
When police later took Kirilenko to the hospital for an evaluation, he told police, “I hope I killed him,” according to the affidavit.
Kirilenko was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing.
The investigation is active and continuing.
