METUCHEN, NJ – Actor Kelsey Grammer was at a local pub in Metuchen Tuesday night, to promote his beer.

The “Cheers” star stopped by Hailey’s Harp & Pub on Main Street during their monthly Beer Senate.

Moshe Atzbi, proprietor of the pub told Patch that Grammer’s visit was an “unforgettable experience.”

“It was great to have Kelsey at the pub last night. He is a very charming and engaging person who also happens to put out some good brews. The guests and staff had a great time speaking with him, taking pictures and getting autographs signed,” Atzbi said.

Hailey’s Harp & Pub hosts their Beer Senate every second Tuesday of the month, where patrons enjoy four beers and three surprise courses, not on the menu. At the end of the dinner, guests vote for which beer goes on tap.

“Of course, one of the beers we had for voting was his Faith American Calico Man IPA, so he came in and talked about it to the group. It was really special,” Atzbi said.

Grammer, who played Dr. Fraiser Crane on “Cheers” and its spin-off “Fraiser,” founded the Faith American Brewing Company in 2015. Having spent much time in the Catskills as a boy, Grammer later went on to buy the land in the region’s Margaretville, NY, where his brewing company is now located.

“I wasn’t really much a beer guy until I decided to make beer,” Grammer told guests at Hailey’s, as he spoke to them about his beer.

The Faith American Brewing Company currently has three brews – Faith American Ale, Calico Man and Blue Hazy.

From getting nominated to the Great American Main Street Award and American Girl Doll of the Year Kavi hailing Metuchen to Kelsey Grammer visiting Hailey's Harp and Pub, all these events shine a bright light on how special the borough is, said Dawn Mackey, Executive Director of Metuchen Downtown Alliance.

"These are opportunities for residents to take pride in their hometown, but it's also the perfect opportunity to introduce Metuchen to the larger area," Mackey said.

" Once visitors come, they will find a special collection of shops with well curated goods, restaurants that are outstanding and a welcoming, inclusive community that often hosts unique, dynamic events that can't be found in neighboring towns. Metuchen is more than a place, it's a vibe."
