Man Found Guilty Of Murder In Shooting Of Pregnant Edison Woman: Cops

Shakir Tyler shot his ex-girlfriend, Tayeesha Webb, outside her house in Edison, authorities said.

EDISON, NJ — A Plainfield man was found guilty by a jury on Feb. 6, 2025, for the murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend on Sept. 4, 2021, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said Friday.

Shakir Tyler, 45, was convicted of the murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Tayeesha Webb, 35, of Edison.

Tyler was also found guilty of unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.

During a two-week trial that began on Jan. 21, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Lynne Seborowski and Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Emily Millner presented evidence and testimony showing that Tyler confronted Webb outside of her home, which resulted in Tyler fatally shooting Webb.

Tyler faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on May 1, Ciccone said.
