Man Seriously Injured After Vehicle Struck By Tractor-Trailer In Edison

The man was standing outside his disabled vehicle when he was struck, New Jersey State Police said.

EDISON, NJ – A resident of New York was seriously injured after being struck by a tractor-trailer early Monday morning on I-287 in Edison, New Jersey State Police said.

On Monday at 12:31 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on I-287 north milepost 1.2 in Edison Township.

According to preliminary investigation, a Mercedes was traveling northbound on I-287 and was involved in a single motor vehicle crash, becoming disabled on the road.

The driver of the Mercedes exited the car and was standing near it when a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling northbound on I-287 hit the Mercedes, NJSP said.

The Mercedes then struck the driver who was standing near it. As a result, the 59-year-old man from Brooklyn, NY, suffered serious injuries, NJSP said.

He was taken to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
