METUCHEN, NJ — Volunteers from the Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show presented a $4,400 donation check to Metuchen EMS on Monday evening, representing funds raised at the Aug. 10 event.

According to Squad Captain Peter Fairclough, the contribution will cover the cost of 20 ambulance rides, helping individuals and their families avoid financial burdens associated with emergency medical transport and treatment.

"Through their collective efforts, the organization has helped 20 individuals—people they may never meet—receive emergency medical treatment and transport, relieving them and their families of financial concerns about paying for these critical services," organizers said.

Since its launch 16 years ago, the annual show has raised more than $34,000 for Metuchen EMS.

The event operates with a small core team. From the day after each show until March, it functions as a one-person operation. In March, volunteers Greg Daro and Bob Matland join to help secure sponsors for the upcoming event.

This year, Daro—a Metuchen resident—handled most of the pre-show outreach to potential sponsors. Matland designed the ad booklet for sponsor advertisements and assembled sponsor-donated items into goodie bags for show participants.

"Everyone involved in organizing the Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show takes great pride in being part of this significant effort to support and give back to our community," organizers said.
