National Night Out Canceled In Edison Due To Inclement Weather

EDISON, NJ — The National Night Out which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, has been canceled due to inclement weather, Edison officials said.

The Edison Police Department was scheduled to host the event at Lake Papaianni Park.

A new date for the event has not been announced.

Several police departments across New Jersey have canceled the Night Out event due to rain and thunderstorms in the forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in Edison through Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 76. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Wednesday night a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. East wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
