Revolving Sushi Restaurant With Robots Officially Opens In Edison
Sushi plates zip down the table via conveyor belts and a robot delivers drink orders to guests at this Japanese restaurant.
EDISON, NJ — Kura Sushi, a tech-enabled restaurant has officially opened in Edison. The restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine through a revolving sushi service model, where patrons are served on a conveyor belt.
This is the brand’s 44th location in the United States and third in New Jersey.
“On the heels of a strong and successful opening in Jersey City just two months prior, we are ready to continue expanding Kura Sushi across the state with our opening in Edison,” said Hitomi Vinciguerra, Director of Public Relations & Marketing at Kura Sushi USA.

Whether it’s the revolving sushi belt, Bikkura Pon prizes or our signature drink delivery robot Kur-B, there’s something for guests of all ages.”
The restaurant offers more than 130 dishes and the menu includes nigiri, rolls, noodle dishes and desserts, as well as an ever-changing selection of limited-time options introduced each month.

At the restaurant, guests can select sushi plates from the revolving sushi bar that circulates throughout the restaurant and place food and drink orders from the touch panel tablet located at each table.
Once the food is prepared, the dishes zip down the top layer express belt – also known as the “sushi highway” – directly to the table.
Then there's Kur-B the KuraBot that was recently implemented to assist staff by delivering drink orders tableside.
There is also the Kura Sushi’s Bikkura Pon Prize System that is comprised of a prize machine, touch panel and plate disposal slot located at every table.
Connected via sensors, the touch panel registers the number of plates dispensed into the slot. For every five plates inserted, a short animation plays on the touch panel and for every fifteen plates inserted, a prize is dispensed from the prize machine.
The Edison restaurant is located at 1781 Route 27 Suite 101 Edison, and has special opening hours from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Feb. 13.
