Crossing Guard Taken To Hospital After Being Hit By Car In Fair Lawn: Police

A 71-year-old crossing guard was hit by a car Wednesday morning while crossing children in Fair Lawn.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A crossing guard was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car while assisting children on Wednesday morning, the Fair Lawn police said.

The 71-year-old male guard, who lives in Fair Lawn, was struck by a Toyota Camry at the intersection of Arnold Street and Hooper Avenue just after 8:30 a.m., police said. Multiple people called 911.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Fair Lawn, remained at the scene, police said. They said he was making a left turn from Arnold Street onto Hooper when the crash occurred.

The victim was taken by the Fair Lawn Ambulance Corp to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson with injuries that were considered non-life-thraetening, police said.

The crash is still being investigated, police said.
