FLFA to Dedicate New Press Box At Super Bowl

The Fair Lawn Football Association will dedicate its new announcer booth Sunday prior to the Tri-County Youth Football League Super Bowl at Vander Plaat Field.

The press box, which was funded and built primarily through volunteer contributions and donations, will be dedicated in memory of Michael Anthony Motto. Motto, who died in an accident in 1980 when he was only 10 years old, led the FLFA to two consecutive undefeated seasons and division championships in 1978 and 1979.

Michael's brother, Richard, of Phoenix Flooring Company, donated the funds to purchase all of the lumber required for construction of the project.

In addition to Phoenix Flooring, other local donors include Ben Denise, of Central Supply Inc., who donated all of the cinder block and mortar; Joel Tanis, of , who donated all of the cement for the footings and slab; Gary Barabas, of Barabas Contracting, who donated all of the roofing material, siding and labor for all of the framing; FLFA Vice President Mike Umstead, of Busy Bee Chimney Service, who donated masonry labor and concrete materials; and Matthew Kuiken, of Kuiken Brothers, who provided a significant discount on the lumber.

Umstead and FLFA president Phil Schwartz oversaw construction of the press box, which needs only exterior signage and some finishing touches on its interior before its complete.

Sunday's dedication ceremony at Vander Plaat Field begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed three Super Bowls. The Pee Wee Super Bowl kicks off at noon, followed by the Juniors at 2 p.m. and the Seniors at 4 p.m.
