Fair Lawn Teens And Police Bond Via 'Cookies With Rookies'
Teens in Fair Lawn were invited to get to know their local police. See how many turned out.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — Students at Fair Lawn High School got to know their local police a little better on May 9 with a sweet event.
Rookie officers Jablonowski and Messina along with veteran members of the Fair Lawn Police Department met the students for "Cookies With the Rookies."
The goal was to discuss issues, build relationships, and break down some of the stigmas associated with law enforcement through an open dialogue, the department said — "while eating cookies."

Approximately 100 kids came out for the event, police said.
Cookies were donated by Jimmy's Cookies at 125 Entin Road, Clifton. Coffee was donated by Dunkin Donuts on Route 208.
"This program intends to advance the practice of community policing though building trust and strengthening relationships between police officers and the students of our community, one cookie at a time," police said.
The Fair Lawn police can be reached at (201) 796-1400. In an emergency, call 911.
