Girl, 3, Struck By Car In Fair Lawn: Cops

FAIR LAWN, NJ - A 3-year-old child was struck by a car Monday afternoon in Fair Lawn, according to police.
The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. on Fair Lawn Avenue, where the little girl was walking hand-in-hand with her mother, a 38-year-old Fair Lawn resident, to cross Plaza Road, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
Further investigation revealed the mother and daughter were in the crosswalk when a 2019 Chevy, operated by a 79-year-old Ridgewood woman, struck the child, Metzler said.

According to the sergeant, the driver was making a left turn from Fair Lawn Avenue west onto Plaza Road south when the collision happened, sending the girl approximately 10 feet along the roadway.
The child did not suffer any "obvious injuries," Metzler said, but she was taken by Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center for a medical evaluation.

The driver received traffic summonses for making an improper turn, failure to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk & failure to exhibit a driver’s license, according to police.
