How Have Fort Leeβs Changing Demographics Affected You?
According to data release last week by the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Fort Lee is now 38.4% Asian and 11.0% Hispanic, with both numbers jumping since 2000.

The overall population of Fort Lee remained stable over the past ten years, but the racial makeup of the community is changing, according to data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau.
As of the last censusβconducted in 2000βthere were 35,461 people living in Fort Lee. According to the data released Thursday, that number had dipped just slightly to 35,345.
But in 2000, Fort Leeβs population was 31.4% Asian and 7.9% βHispanic or Latino.β By 2010, the Asian population had grown to 38.4% and Hispanics/Latinos accounted for 11.0% of the overall number of residents. Meanwhile the βwhiteβ population dropped sharply from 62.8% in 2000 to 53.5% in 2010, according to the census data.

The βblack or African Americanβ population also grew from 1.7% in 2000 to 2.8% in 2010.
