Jan. through June 2014: Crime Rates Fall in Fort Lee

New Jersey State Police show that compared to the first half of 2013, Fort Lee saw fewer incidents of both violent and nonviolent crime.

New Jersey State Police have released their Uniform Crime Report for the first two quarters of 2014. According to their reports, Fort Lee’s crime index has fallen from 156 to 136 in the last year, a 6 percent decrease in overall crime.

Fort Lee saw 16 incidents of violent crime between January and June of 2013, with only 8 incidents in the same period of 2014. That’s a 50 percent decrease in violent crime.

However nonviolent crime fell only 9 percent: Fort Lee Police reported 140 nonviolent crimes in the first half of 2013, and 128 in the first half of 2014.
