Man Dies After Being Struck By Car In Freehold Township: Prosecutor
Authorities are investigating the death Monday of a 35-year-old Freehold Township man - a pedestrian - in an accident on Route 9.
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 35-year-old Freehold Township man, walking on Route 9, was struck and killed by a car in the township Monday evening and the matter is now under investigation, authorities say.
No criminal charges or traffic summonses have been filed in the matter as yet, according to an announcement Tuesday by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Freehold Township police went to the scene of the southbound lanes of Route 9 between County Route 522 and State Route 33 after a report at about 6:45 p.m. of a "serious collision."
At the scene was the victim, a 35-year-old male resident of Freehold Township. Also at the scene was the driver of the car, a 55-year-old male resident of Lakewood. He was operating a 2008 Toyota Camry, authorities said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the prosecutor's office said. Neither the identity of the victim nor of the driver was released by authorities as yet.
An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Freehold Township Police Department is ongoing, the prosecutor's office said.
