Obituary: John M. Smith, 94

Smith was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a purchasing agent for Boonie Doon for 35 years.

John M. Smith, 94, of Monroe Township died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at in Freehold Township. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he lived there and in Elmont, NY before moving to New Jersey in 2003. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Smith was a purchasing agent for Bonnie Doon, Stamford, CT for 35 years before retiring.

He was predeceased by his brother, Frank and brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Phyllis. Smith is survived by two nephews, Edmund Jr. and Robert Smith; his beloved niece, Phyllis Fitzgerald and her husband, Scott; three great nieces, Colleen, Caren and Kimberly; and a great nephew, Christian.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 8:00 p.m., at the located at 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec.7, at 11:00 a.m. at The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
