South Jersey Cop Recorded Woman In Sexual Act While In Holding Cell: Prosecutor

VENTNOR CITY, NJ — A Ventnor City police officer is accused of recording a woman performing a sexual act while in a holding cell and then sharing it, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Ryan M. Bonanni, 24, a police officer and Egg Harbor Township resident, is charged with second-degree official misconduct, second-degree computer theft and three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy.

The charges stem from a July 6, 2025 incident, when a woman identified only as B.W. was arrested by Ventnor police, according to a news release.

While the woman was in police custody, Bonanni used his position as an officer to access surveillance footage of her in her holding cell in various states of undress and engaging in a sexual act, authorities said.

Bonanni recorded these videos on his personal cellphone and sent them to other people via the online messaging app Snapchat, officials said.

The videos and messages were found on his phone, along with video captions, authorities said.

This incident was and continues to be investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards and Accountability Unit.
