South Jersey Woman Indicted For Drug-Induced Death Of AC Man

Rajeri J. Curry was charged in the death of Jeffrey Giannini, who overdosed on heroin and fentanyl, Atlantic County Prosecutor says

MAYS LANDING - June 1, 2018. Police find the body of 30-year-old Jeffrey Giannini in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked in a McDonald's parking lot in Atlantic City. He is dead from a fatal drug overdose.

There are several bags of heroin laced with fentanyl found next to his body. Just two hours before, a surveillance camera captured Rajeri J. Curry, 29, selling Giannini a controlled dangerous substance, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.

Curry was recently indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury for strict liability homicide for the Giannini's drug-induced death, third degree possession of heroin, possession of
heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone and possession of heroin with intent to distribute on public property, he said.

Kaytisha Waddell, 27, was also indicted for possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone and possession of heroin with intent to distribute on public property, Tyner said.

Curry was arrested on June 11 and detained following a detention hearing. Waddell was not taken into custody and released on her own recognizance.

Atlantic City police previously raided Curry and Waddell's Drexel Place home on Jan. 17 and seized 300 bags of heroin. Both women were charged in January with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public place and within 1,000 feet of the New York Avenue School. Both women were released back then, pending prosecution, authorities said..

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Atlantic City Police Department.
