Stockton Players Help Stage 'The Bardwalk' in Atlantic City
Stockton students and alumni will stage readings of Shakespearean scenes on the Atlantic City Boardwalk 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

News release from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey:
All the world’s a stage, but on Sunday, Aug. 4, visitors in Atlantic City will find themselves among Shakespearean players in modern dress as they take over “The Bardwalk.”
About 15 students and alumni from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s School of Arts and Humanities will be joined by performers from various community groups to stage readings of some of the Bard’s best-known scenes up and down the boardwalk from 7-9 p.m.

Each group will perform a scene or part of a scene ranging from three minutes to 20 minutes in length. Instead of 16th Century garb, the actors will wear t-shirts with “The Bardwalk” logo.
“Our main objective this summer is community outreach," said Director Dan Cerullo, a Stockton theatre major who helped organize the event. “This event is great for the budding arts in Atlantic City and gives artists from around the area the chance to meet and work together," said Cerullo, a senior from Little Egg Harbor Township in Ocean County who is set to graduate this fall.

This is the second year for “The Bardwalk,” a free event which was held in Cape May last year.
This year, actors will be performing scenes simultaneously and repeating them on a rotating schedule for two hours along the wooden way from Boardwalk Hall to Resorts Casino Hotel.
“What we are trying to do is just get people to stop and experience some theatre. It doesn’t matter if they stop for two minutes or two hours, if someone takes in some Shakespeare, then we have done our job,” Cerullo said.
