Stockton Sponsors AARP Driver Safety Program

Richard Stockton College's Center on Successful Aging invites 50-and-overs to take the course Sept. 10 and 12 in Absecon.

Cars, traffic laws, driving conditions and area roads have changed, but many drivers age 50 and older have never taken a refresher course since they got their licenses.

The Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is hosting an AARP Driver Safety Training Program on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day.

Drivers who take the course will learn defensive driving techniques, the current rules of the road and how to manage age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.

Participants must complete the full course to receive a certificate and be eligible for insurance discounts; contact one’s insurance agent for details.

Space is limited at the course site, the Absecon Community Center for Seniors, Great Hall - United Methodist Church, 100 Pitney Road, Absecon 08201.
