Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapon Arrest

Richard D. Kirkland Jr., 25, of Galloway Township, is arrested after White Horse Pike traffic stop.

Galloway Township police stopped a car for a traffic violation about 9 p.m. Friday (Aug. 30) and ultimately arrested a 25-year-old Galloway Township man on drug and weapons charges.

Richard D. Kirkland Jr. is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of handgun by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute a CDS (marijuana) and possession of a handgun while distributing a CDS, according to a news release from the Galloway Township Police Department.

Police said a Glock .40-caliber handgun was recovered from the vehicle as well as a .38 caliber Taurus revolver stolen in Philadelphia.

Kirkland was lodged in the Atlantic County Jail Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

The arrest was made at Route 30 and Haddon Avenue.
