Week in Galloway: Extra Police Patrols and Cooler Weather

A look at the week ahead in Galloway Township.

Look for extra police patrols on the streets of Galloway Township this week as the department continues to be pro-active in the aftermath of recent crimes.

"It should also be noted that the officers of the Galloway Township Police Department have agreed to a detail rate that is less than their normal overtime rate to help make this happen," Police Chief Patrick S. Moran said in a recent news release. "By agreeing to a lesser rate, the officers have allowed for additional staffing and patrols."

Township Council meets 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and has a full agenda that includes the second reading of an ordinance related to towing companies that do business with the township.

One thing for certain: It will be a little more pleasant to be doing anything this week. The heat wave that saw a sticky stretch of 90-degree days last week has broken.

The forecast calls for high temperatures in the mid-80s for most of the week, and there will some clouds and possible showers kicking around. After a brief run into the mid-70s, the ocean temperature pushed back into the 60s over the weekend. A mixed bag of winds should keep the water temps bouncing around a bit this week.
