Week in Galloway: National Night Out, 'Anything Goes' and 4-H Fair

Special events this week in Galloway Township.

Look for three special events this week as we move into the final month of summer before Labor Day and the start of the new school year.

National Night Out: Galloway Township celebrates National Night Out 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 6) at the Municipal Complex on Jimmie Leeds Road. The event includes information booths, public safety demonstrations, a dunk tank and other fun. Food and drink will be available.

National Night Out began in 1984 and is celebrated in more than 15,000 communities in all 50 states on the same night. The event is designed to entertain families while heightening crime and drug prevention awareness, generating support for anti-crime programs and strengthening neighborhood spirit.

'Anything Goes': The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District's summer theater students will present the musical ‘Anything Goes’ this weekend at Oakcrest High School (1824 Dr. Dennis Foreman Drive in Mays Landing).

Shows are 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 9 to 11). Tickets are $12 and $10. Call (609) 909-2603 for more information.

4-H Fair: The 2013 Atlantic County 4-H Fair in South Egg Harbor is Thursday through Saturday, August 8, 9 and 10. It is open from 12:30 PM to 10 PM on Thursday and Friday, and 11 AM to 11 PM on Saturday at the David C. Wood 4-H Center and Fairgrounds are located at 6210 Route 50 in South Egg Harbor, between the Expressway entrance/exit and Route 30.

Some 4-H Fair traditions include:

  • Chicken Barbecue - Thursday, August 8th Starting at 4:00 PM…
  • Crab Cake Sandwich Platter - Friday, August 9th Starting at 5 PM… 
  • Horse Shows – Thursday, Friday, & Saturday… 
  • 4-H Fashion Revue (Friday Night)… 
  • 4-H Talent Show (Saturday Night)
