Woman Beat Child With Baseball Bat In Atlantic County: Police
The child was hospitalized with significant injuries, authorities said.
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — An Atlantic County woman has been charged with aggravated assault after beating a child with a baseball bat, Egg Harbor Township police said.
Muddasra Afzal, 31, was arrested Wednesday night at a home in Egg Harbor Township, police said.
The child had suffered significant injuries and was taken to a local hospital by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, police said.

Police Officer Logan Schettig responded to a call to the home in the Cardiff section about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the child had been hit several times with a bat.
The age of the child and the child's relationship to Afzal were not released.

Afzal has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and child abuse, the reports said. She is being held at the Atlantic County jail pending a detention hearing.
Detective Robert Harte assisted with the follow-up investigation, police said.
