ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Get ready for what developers are calling "the world's largest beachfront water park" right here at the Jersey Shore.

ISLAND Waterpark is the centerpiece of the newly-renovated Showboat Resort and it will open early this summer, according to officials.

The 120,000 square-foot waterpark has more than a dozen slides, a 1,000 square-foot surf simulator and a 6,500 square-foot lazy river. All are designed to fit the park's exotic island theme.

It's a family-friendly destination for all ages, Bart Blatstein, Tower Investments CEO and Showboat owner, said.

Inspired by watching his grandkids play and have fun, Blatstein said that "no other family-fun resort in the region or even the world compares to it."

But it's not just for kids. There are five bars at ISLAND Waterpark, including a 40-foot-tall "Indoor Tree House" that can be booked for private parties, a swim-up bar and Paradise, a 10,000 square-foot space overlooking the waterpark and ocean.

During the day, parents can use these areas to relax. Adult-only areas include Peloton bikes, manicure stations, VIP cabanas and more.

At night, the waterpark turns into a nightlife venue, which developers say is the first of its kind at any waterpark.

You can also find two other features that other indoor waterparks don't have -a more than 1,000-foot Coconut Coaster that takes guests on a ride suspended high above the waterpark and offers panoramic views of the ocean and boardwalk; and Riptide, a 300-foot zip line.

ISLAND Waterpark has a retractable glass-paneled roof, so the park can be enjoyed during any season or weather.

Showboat Hotel guests can enjoy "Rise 'n' Shine," an extra hour at the waterpark before it opens to the public.

The Showboat Resort is already home to the world's largest arcade, Lucky Snake Arcade. The developers say they hope to restore Atlantic City's reputation as "America's Favorite Playground."

No specific opening date was shared, nor were any prices.
