Missing Boy Found Safe As Police Highlight Registration Program

Gloucester Twp. police reminded residents about their Autism/Development Disability Registration program after a 14-year-old went missing.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township police reminded residents about their Autism/Development Disability Registration program after a 14-year-old boy went missing and was later found safe on Wednesday.

Police were dispatched to the Broadmoor West Development in Gloucester Township for the report of a missing autistic boy at about 2:36 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Alex Nolder had left his home and was reported missing.

Gloucester Township police lead the search with the help of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, the New Jersey State Police Aviation Bureau and a Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office K9.

After about four hours, Nolder was located by the helicopter as he emerged from a nearby wooded area, police said. Gloucester Township police officers made contact with Nolder, and he was then transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation, police said.

Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins thanked New Jersey State Police, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the many citizens who supplied informational tips and offers of assistance during the search.

The Gloucester Township Police Department has an Autism/Development Disability Registration (ADDR) program for individuals with Autism or Disabilities such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Down Syndrome or any other endangered individuals.

This registry assists police officers with quick access to the registered person’s critical information when time is essential in communicating and dealing with an emergency, police said.
