Byrd Contributes Two Big Catches in Gamecocks Win

Timber Creek graduate Damiere Byrd makes two catches in South Carolina's easy win over East Carolina.

Timber Creek graduate Damiere Byrd had two catches for 81 yards in South Carolina's nonconference victory over East Carolina on Saturday.

Byrd, a sophomore wideout, now has three catches for 94 yards on the young season.

South Carolina won Saturday's game, 48-10, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Quarterback Dylan Thompson connected with Byrd on a 53-yard pass to the East Carolina 6-yard line on the Gamecocks' first possession of the game. Star running back Marcus Lattimore punched it into the end zone on the very next play to give South Carolina the early 6-0 lead.

Byrd added a 28-yard catch to end the third quarter. He also had two carries in the game—a 2-yard gain and a negative-2-yard run.
