Six Juveniles Charged in Blackwood Burglaries

The same State Street home was burglarized Monday and Tuesday, with a car stolen following Monday's break-in.

Police arrested four juveniles Tuesday night along Blackwood's Cressmont Avenue and charged them with earlier breaking into a State Street home.

Police later arrested two more juveniles and charged them in connection with the crime, Gloucester Township Police Capt. Anthony Minosse said this afternoon.

Tuesday's burglary marked the second time in two days the home on the 100 block of State Street had been burglarized.

Reported as stolen from the home's master bedroom was roughly $30 and the victim's wallet.

Police established a perimeter around a wooded area across the street from the victim's property. They spotted four juveniles running along Indiana Avenue, eventually catching up to all four behind homes along Cressmont Avenue.

All six suspects live in the township's Blackwood section, according to police.

Police have charged a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and three 14-year-old boys in the investigation, Minosse said.

Police recovered a red ax found near the State Street home's rear door. Investigators believe the ax, which belonged to the homeowner, had been used as a means of access.

All four juveniles arrested along Cressmont Avenue Tuesday night were charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

One of the four was also charged with possession of burglary tools and joyriding. He had admitted to being in the stolen vehicle, according to police.

All six juveniles were lodged in Camden County Juvenile Detention Center this morning after they were processed at the police station.

The stolen vehicle had not been recovered as of this afternoon.
