‘Heavy’ Fire In South Jersey Home Extinguished Saturday: Officials

Firefighters in Camden County extinguished a "heavy" residential fire in the area Saturday evening, officials said. See photos below:

VOORHEES, NJ - Firefighters in Camden County extinguished a “heavy” residential fire in Voorhees Saturday evening, according to a Facebook post from the local firefighters’ union.

At around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, dispatchers at the Camden County Communications Center transmitted an alarm for a fire in a home on Blue Ridge Road in Voorhees Township, Camden County IAFF Local 3249 said in a Tuesday Facebook post.

At the same time, the Voorhees Township Squad Company reported that a heavy smoke column was visible from about a mile away. Voorhees Township police officers also reported heavy fire showing from the front of the home, the union said.

“Responding firefighters stretched 1 3/4" hose lines and raised ground ladders to attack the fire, ventilate smoke and heat from the home and search the home for trapped occupants,” the union said.

It was not immediately clear if any occupants were found following the search.

The fire was quickly extinguished without injury reports, the union said.
