NJ High School Told To Shelter In Place For 2nd Time This Month

For the second time this month, Washington Township High School was told to shelter-in-place after receiving an anonymous threat.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police in Gloucester County have requested federal law enforcement help after a shelter-in-place was instituted at the Washington Township Public School District for the second time this month.

The shelter-in-place at Washington Township High School was instituted Thursday morning, after the school received an anonymous threat, according to Washington Township police. Officers were dispatched to the school, and detectives traced the source of the phone number.

The shelter-in-place was lifted about a half hour later, police said.

"We’ve requested Federal assistance from the FBI and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office," police said in a statement. "Added patrols will be at all Washington Township schools."

"Please be advised that we have received the 'ALL CLEAR' from the Washington Township Police Department," the school district said in an announcement on its homepage. "The 'Shelter-in-Place' order has been lifted, and Washington Township High School has resumed normal operations."
