Timber Creek Students Among Rutgers BizEd Winners

Ten area high-school students, including two Timber Creek Regional High School students, proved they are ready to become future business leaders by winning BizEd, an intensive two-week summer camp at the Rutgers University-Camden School of Business.

The Timber Creek students are Bryant Wong and Vincent Russo, both of Sicklerville.

A third Gloucester Township resident—Alexandra D'Orazio, of Glendora—also finished in the top 10 of Rutgers-Camden's BizEd program. D'Orazio is a student at Paul VI High School in Haddon Township.

The 10 students were awarded free Kindle Fire tablets for their accomplishments during the camp, which is designed to prepare the rising high school seniors for the rigors of collegiate business education.

The seven other winners were: Rebecca Crofton, of Williamstown High School; Kayla Jarosiewicz, of Gloucester County Institute of Technology; Alex Klein, of Haddonfield Memorial High School; Sean LaVergne, Riverside High School; Kyle Nealy, of Burlington Township High School; Saanya Sethi, of Cherry Hill High School East; and Joshua Warren, of Cherry Hill High School East.

From July 9 through July 20, 50 teens from Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties were introduced to theory and practice of accounting, finance, management, marketing, and technology as part of Rutgers' BizEd camp. 

The students worked closely with the Rutgers-Camden faculty to examine business disciplines and learn the role technology plays in the business world.

They also interacted with leading area executives who offered career guidance and provided up-to-the-minute insights regarding current job, business, and economic trends.

The students were divided into teams of five, and were awarded points for activities completed throughout the program. At the end of the program, the students presented a business case study to a panel of executives.

Students graduated from BizEd during a special ceremony at Rutgers-Camden on July 20. Each graduate received certification of his or her participation.

In addition to Russo and Wong, several other Black Horse Pike Regional School District students participated in the 2012 BizEd camp.

From Highland, there were Erica Lanser, of Blackwood; Steven Pisani, of Laurel Springs; Ahmaad Randall, of Sicklerville; and Morgan Reid, of Blackwood.

From Triton, there were Daniel Sadler, of Blackwood, and Eric Stone, of Runnemede.

From Timber Creek, there were Victoria Kendall, of Erial, and Justin Quigley, of Sicklerville.
