Township Officers Complete Rigorous Command Training

The program was developed at West Point.

Two Gloucester Township police officers recently completed a demanding 14-week program from the state association of chiefs of police and have joined the local command staff.

Lt. Brendan Barton, commander of the community relations bureau and Detective Sergeant James Schriver, deputy investigations bureau commander, completed the course focused on conflict management, critical thinking, communications, counseling, decision making and leadership science.

The program has been in existence since 1993 when the chiefs association teamed with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to develop future police leaders. Candidates for the program are required to commit considerable time and energy to pass this demanding course.
