The New Jersey annual six-day Bear Hunt Hunters concluded Saturday with hunters having killed 251 bears, the Associated Press reports. That figure is smaller than last year's event, in which 287 bears were killed.The highest number of bears were killed in Sussex County, which had 155 kills.The bear hunt, which is designed to prevent overpopulation, covers four designated areas in parts of Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic, Bergen, Somerset and Hunterdon counties.State officials say the most bears, 155, were killed in Sussex County.
