Martino's certificates were first revoked in 2017 when he was indicted on sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and official misconduct charges.

Martino was removed from his Hackettstown math teaching position during the 2014-2015 school year, and was arrested that summer, Lehigh Valley Live reported, following a multi-year sexual relationship with a student that began when she was 16. At least one of the encounters happened inside the classroom.

He pleaded guilty this April to one count of second-degree sexual assault, WRNJ Radio reported. The East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, resident was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentence, parle supervision and Megan's Law registration for life.
